Maxim Webster was a much-loved and highly regarded graduate of the Conservation and Land Management course. After his tragic passing in 2020, his employers and family have generously set up this scholarship in his memory.
The scholarship of $1,000 will be paid each semester to an eligible student, who have studied a minimum of 6 units in the Diploma of Conservation & Ecosystem Management (which supersedes the Diploma of Conservation & Land Management) who, in the opinion of Melbourne Polytechnic, displays similar values and strengths to those of Maxim as outlined in the Selection Criteria.
Audience
Students enrolled in the Diploma of Conservation and Ecosystem Management course (AHC51120) at Melbourne Polytechnic course between 2022 and 2027 who are approaching the end of their first 6 units of study. (Full time students – end of their second semester, part time students, when nearing the end of delivery of their 6th unit).
Scholarship Format / Structure
A nominated student will be put forward by relevant teachers and staff per semester.
The funding objective is to assist with the purchase of materials or equipment that will contribute to their own conservation journey.
Scholarship funding will be paid directly to the successful applicant as a personal cheque.

Selection Criteria
A nominating panel of teachers and staff will be putting forward a recommendation for students that embodies these characteristics:
- Passion - their passion for conservation will be obvious and genuine.
- Curiosity - about the natural world & conservation will extend beyond the classroom, demonstrated keenness for learning.
- Work Ethic - going above and beyond what would normally be expected in the field and/or classroom.
- Collaboration - sharing and inspiring, leading from within while able to also work autonomously.
- Generosity - sharing of their time and their knowledge, stepping up to facilitate others.
