Free TAFE

More Victorians will have the chance to study at TAFE, with Free TAFE

More than ever, the skills we need to build our state are learned at TAFE. Free TAFE will reduce financial barriers for students wanting to train in courses that lead to jobs in demand by Victorian employers.

We are currently working to transition our Free TAFE courses to remote learning as well as introducing new courses to support the Victorian Government’s Working for Victoria Program.

Register to receive further information about our free courses for the next enrolment period.

Priority TAFE courses

  • From 1 January 2019, Free TAFE for Priority Courses covers tuition fees for priority courses, for students who are eligible for government-subsidised training.
  • The free priority course list includes non-apprenticeship courses and courses that provide pathways to apprenticeships (also known as ‘pre-apprenticeships’).
  • Free priority courses lead to occupations in industries where there are likely to be more available jobs.
  • Some of them lead to work in important areas like preventing family violence, rolling out the National Disability Insurance Scheme in Victoria, and delivering our major infrastructure projects.

Never stop learning with a free TAFE course
