Changing careers

It's never too late

There's many reasons you might want to change the direction of your career - maybe you're moving, maybe the skills for your current job are no longer required or maybe it's time you were your own boss.

Whatever the reason, the general perception is that most think their boat has sailed - that it's too late to start putting energy in to a different career. This couldn't be further form the truth. Career satisfaction affects our overall well being, so taking the time to get it right is essential.

Some ways that you can start exploring other career opportunities are

  • Thinking about what you love doing outside of your ‘day’ work
  • Look at current skills gaps and see where you want to be
  • Consider studying part time in your passion-career before you make any bold decisions
  • Look at different opportunities in your current work place

One of the greatest virtues in life is to be able to do what you love doing, it’s never too late to turn the career car around and find your something.

Our Skills and Job Centres have qualified staff to help guide you in the right direction.

But I have no experience?

No one was born knowing how to drive a car, we have to learn these skills at different times in our life and changing careers is no different.
