Giang enrolled in Certificate III English as a Second Language (ESL) course, at Melbourne Polytechnic, in 2007. She wanted to go on to further study, but she thought she needed to improve her English first.
In class, Giang was a quiet student, but very determined. She did all the tasks, and studied hard. After successfully completing Certificate III (ESL) at Collingwood campus, she talked to the teacher about her future plans. She then went on to study Certificate IV (ESL) at Preston campus.
Giang felt there were many benefits from studying at Melbourne Polytechnic. Not only did her writing and her listening improve, but she became more confident speaking English. "I’m not afraid to ask something or to bargain when I’m shopping," she says. "I really appreciate what the course has done for me."
By 2009, Giang had begun her Masters in Accounting. "I just study part-time as I have four month old twins and an older child… I’ll continue this course because I think it’s better for me to go back to work when my children grow up."
