Four months after migrating to Australia and after a couple of job interviews, I came to realize that no matter how highly-skilled and despite the wide range of experience in my area of finance/accounting/auditing gained from big companies, I still found it very difficult to get a good job without the so-called "local experience".
Melbourne Polytechnic’s OQP Program opened my eyes to the reality besetting overseas professionals like me.
Through Melbourne Polytechnic’s OQP program’s guidance and sincere desire to help, I was provided the chance to get a much-needed work placement at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (Melbourne Health) as a Business Analyst.
I am required to assist mainly in the cost-saving and revenue-gap projects. I believe demonstrating that I have the professional skills and relevant experience, coupled with show of dedication, discipline, hardwork and good attitude, led to the reward of a full time job offer half-way through my placement.
I will be always grateful to Melbourne Polytechnic OQP program and Melbourne Health for opening the door to a life-changing opportunity here in Australia.
