Course: Diploma of Interior Decoration and Design
What do like most about Melbourne Polytechnic?
I am really impressed with the willingness of teachers to assist, they are always so helpful, particularly with myself and the other international students in my class. They understand that English is not my first language and go out of their way to make sure that I understand everything.
The content of the Diploma of Interior Decoration is relevant to industry (I have already got a job in the industry while studying), and is easy to follow.
I looked at a few other providers but after visiting Melbourne Polytechnic, I was impressed with the campus location (being so close to two train stations and the Preston Market), with the modern facilities and the huge amount of free student parking on campus.
What is your favourite class and why?
Use of different materials in interior decorating because the teachers are really passionate about what they are teaching which makes studying really enjoyable.
What are your future plans or goals?
My goal is to complete the course with as much knowledge as possible, and then find a design job in Australia to gain industry experience, and then consider my options in the global market if this industry.
Why did you choose Melbourne Polytechnic?
I had 3 providers to choose from, I chose Melbourne polytechnic because I liked the location (great for public transport, good neighbourhood, and I there are good job prospects in the area for the employment I am interested in), liked the course content, and after visiting the campus and speaking to teachers, I know I had made a good decision
Anything else you would like to mention about your experience at Melbourne Polytechnic or Australia?
Leaving Spain and coming to Australia to study is a great experience. I didn’t decide where I wanted to study until after arriving, so I had the luxury of being able to decide where to study upon arrival. Studying in Australia at Melbourne Polytechnic has taught me more than just how to become a professional interior decorator and designer, it has allowed me to grow as a person and make life long friendships.
