Financial support for construction trade students
The Selleys "Stick with It" Scholarship supports students enrolled in a construction trade at Melbourne Polytechnic.
The scholarship recognises students who demonstrate resilience, determination and a strong commitment to their chosen trade. Inspired by a "never give up" attitude, it celebrates individuals who take pride in their work, show initiative and remain dedicated to achieving their goals. The scholarship aims to support students as they complete their training and take the next step in their trade career
Eligibility
To apply, you must:
- Be enrolled in an eligible construction trade at Melbourne Polytechnic. Courses include:
- Certificate III in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology MSF30322
- Certificate III in Carpentry CPC30220
- Certificate III in Joinery CPC31920
- Certificate III in Shopfitting CPC30120
- Certificate III in Painting & Decorating CPC30620
- Certificate III in Plumbing CPC32420
- Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing CPC31420
- Be committed to completing your course and pursuing a career in the industry.
Number of scholarships available
Two (2) - $5,000 per scholarship.
Selection criteria
Applications are reviewed by a selection panel and assessed based on the following questions and criteria:
- Outline your personal and/or professional background, including any challenges you’ve overcome and what attracted you to your chosen trade?
- Describe how you demonstrate Selleys values showing a “never give up attitude” in your work or studies, including but not limited to the below examples:
- Perseverance (commitment and determination to keep going)
- Pride in workmanship (quality, care, and attention to detail)
- Reliability and work ethic (showing up, following through, accountability)
- Initiative (motivation to learn, improve, and build your future)
- A personal and/or professional reference
- Any additional supporting documentation to support your application that you have not yet shared.

Additional Conditions: Successful applicants will be required to provide a testimonial, attend the scholarship presentation event, and consent to the use of their name, image and story for promotional purposes.
About Martin Selley"Martin Selley’s story is one of resilience, craftsmanship, and a “never give up” attitude.
