Bachelor of Illustration Folio Presentation

Prepare for your Bachelor of Illustration folio presentation

The interview will run for 20 – 30 minutes during which you will present a folio of your work to two lecturers from the Bachelor of Illustration. The folio pieces may result from prior education, industry experience or personal investigation. Be prepared to talk about each piece and discuss their production process, as well as any interest you have in specific theoretical frameworks, and career aspirations. Interviews will be considering your creative ability, but evidence of enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to the development of skills and knowledge remain very important.

Folio Requirements

  • VCE students may present a folio of work from your art subjects.
  • Mature age/returning students can present work from a prior art course, or examples of
    self-directed work.

When interviewing for the Bachelor of Illustration, potential students can present folio examples from:

  • VCE folio
  • creative work from a CERT IV course or VCAL program
  • Previous Creative Arts or Media Diploma or Degree, completed or unfinished
  • a self-directed work
  • a personal folio of work that may include associated imaginative projects and
    pursuits such as photography, comic art, mural painting, portraiture, etc
  • artwork may comprise pieces completed using traditional materials or digital art
  • ARTICULATION: a student who has successfully completed the Melbourne
    Polytechnic Diploma of Vis Arts (Illustration), or the Advanced Diploma Creative
    Product Development can enter into the course at Year 2 via the Articulation
    agreement.
  • IMPORTANTLY, display your creativity

When presenting for the interview:

  • know something about the course and the subjects offered – this is listed on the
    webpage
  • demonstrate some knowledge of illustration and what you aspire to in the field
  • demonstrate that you are motivated and have enthusiasm for creative art studies

Communication

The Course Administrator will arrange your interview. You can also choose to interview in person on the Fairfield campus. Please let the Course Administrator know and they will arrange it.

Interviewers

In most cases there will be 2 or 3 people present - 2 interviewers from Lecturing staff and the Course Administrator.
