Specialist Make-up Folio Presentation

In the interview you will be asked to present a folio of examples of your make-up work and images of make-up and/or hair styling that inspires you.

Your images can be any of the following:

  • makeup you may have designed or applied in productions through school, self-taught or as part of previous work
  • examples of application of make-up on yourself or others
  • design ideas
  • images of hair and make-up styling that inspire you. These may come from magazines, or from film or stage performances

Interview Advice

The folio is used as a talking point for the interview. Our teachers understand that some applicants may have no prior make-up design skills, so images of make-up and hair designs that inspire you are just as relevant.

It is important in the interview that you demonstrate a commitment and enthusiasm. Motivation and dedication are regarded highly, as the area of study is a comprehensive Diploma, and should be treated like a 9-5 work position.

The staff conducting the interviews are very friendly and understand that you may be nervous. They are very approachable and interested in seeing your work and in answering any questions you might have regarding the course.

Students will be asked about why they would like to enter into a makeup course and to talk through their artwork/ folio.
