Songwriting and Music Production Interview Advice

How to interview for the Bachelor of Songwriting and Music Production

Interviews are allocated for 30 minutes each either on campus or via Zoom, and it is important to prepare beforehand. When you attend your interview, make sure you bring evidence of any songwriting and/or music production experience, such as:

• Sound recordings on mp3, or easily accessed online;

and/or

• Your instrument (we can provide guitars, a keyboard or piano)

Interviews are conducted by the Head of Program, with one or both of the lead lecturers.

As time is limited, plan to present your best work, or showcase your skills by compiling a mix of your best work. Presentation of work is critical to selection.

If your interview is on campus, please visit the Fairfield campus page for travel info. Your interview will be held in Room Q304, which you will find on the third floor of the Library block. Turn right as you go through the doors, and it is on your left.

If your interview is via Zoom, you will be sent a link and a reminder of the time and date.

Please feel free to send us music files or links to online sites before the interview. Email them to BSMPAdmin@melbournepolytechnic.edu.au

If you have any problems, please call us on 03 9269 8805 or 03 9269 1947.

Look forward to meeting you!
