Apprenticeships and Traineeships

Apprenticeships and traineeships combine workplace-based and formal training. As an apprentice or trainee, you will enter a training contract with an employer and earn money while you learn. In conjunction with on-the-job learning, you will undertake formal training with Melbourne Polytechnic.

What's the difference between an apprenticeship and a traineeship?

The qualification will be listed as either an apprenticeship or a traineeship. Apprenticeships typically provide training in a skilled trade, while traineeships provide training in a vocational area.

Apprenticeships usually take three to four years to complete, while traineeships take around one to two years.
