New Advanced Welding Training Centre (AWTC) Opens in Partnership with Weld Australia

Melbourne Polytechnic has partnered with Weld Australia, the peak professional body for the welding industry, to open the new AWTC Virtual Welding Space in Melbourne.

The Virtual Welding space, located at the Heidelberg campus, was officially opened to students on March 24 2023, and aims to meet the increasing demand for skilled welders in Australia.

The AWTC is a cutting-edge training centre that offers comprehensive programs to train and upskill welders of all identities, at various levels, from beginners to experienced professionals.

Equipped with the latest welding equipment and technology, including advanced welding machines, robotic welding systems, and virtual reality welding simulators, this will provide students with a realistic and hands-on learning experience, while having access to expert trainers.

Expected to attract all kinds of students from across Australia and internationally, seeking world-class training in welding, the AWTC will also provide opportunities for industry professionals to upgrade their skills and stay ahead of the latest advancements in welding technology and practices through specialised short courses.

We’ve been working hard for these opportunities and although it’s a small step, it’s a significant, symbolic step on the journey that we are taking as an organisation. Melbourne Polytechnic’s AWTC will offer a wide range of courses, including: Introduction to Welding Short Course, Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade MEM31922 Boilermaking/Welding, Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade MEM31922 Sheetmetal Working, and Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade MEM30219.
