Gender Equality Action Plan

We are pleased to present Melbourne Polytechnic’s Gender Equality Action Plan 2022 – 2025. This Plan outlines a clear way forward for us in creating a more equal and diverse Melbourne Polytechnic and a great place to work and learn.

The Gender Equality Action Plan (pdf) or GEAP makes a powerful statement about who we are, what we stand for and our commitment to gender equality, which is a key influence in the prevention of violence against women.

The case for gender equality and diverse representation could not be any clearer. They create respectful and safe work environments, improve employee engagement and wellbeing, and increase innovation and productivity.

The GEAP prioritises the following focus areas:

  • closing the gender pay gap
  • ensuring proportionate representation of genders and diverse characteristics across all MP
  • ending discrimination, harassment, and bullying.

In line with Victoria’s nation-leading Gender Equality Act 2020, the GEAP was developed through a Workplace Gender Audit followed by extensive consultation with our people, including our Board and union representatives.

We look forward to reporting our progress to achieving gender equality to our staff, our partners and the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector.
