Melbourne Polytechnic takes immediate precautions following a confirmed coronavirus case at the Greensborough campus

A positive case of coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed in a staff member working at Melbourne Polytechnic’s Greensborough campus.

The campus will be closed today for a deep clean, and anyone who has visited the campus this week and is feeling unwell with any COVID-19 related symptoms is advised to immediately self-isolate and be tested.

Melbourne Polytechnic Chief Executive, Frances Coppolillo, said the safety of students, staff and the community are the institute’s first priority.

“We have been working closely with the relevant government authorities since we were told of the case last night, and we immediately took all the necessary precautions that they advised,” she said.

“Melbourne Polytechnic takes the health and safety of our community very seriously.” The Greensborough campus will remain shut today, Wednesday 15 July 2020, for a deep clean.

In line with government advice, any students, staff members and tenants who have been at the Greensborough campus this week are advised to get tested for COVID-19 if they are feeling unwell.

As an essential service, Melbourne Polytechnic has been operating in line with directives from the government and relevant authorities to ensure that students are able to continue their studies.

“We have implemented a number of health and safety measures over the past months and increased levels of hygiene and cleaning – we will continue with these measures and review them in consultation with the Department of Health and Human Services,” said Ms Coppolillo.
