1932: Sydney Harbour Bridge opened on 19 March. ABC begins broadcasting.
1932/33: the infamous ‘Bodyline’ Test Cricket series between England and Australia takes place in Australia.
1934: first commercially made ute hits the market. 300 000 people attend the dedication of Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance on 11 November.
1939: Robert Menzies becomes Prime Minister of Australia. Germany invades Poland and World War II begins. Black Friday bushfires claim 71 lives in South East Australia.
