Dr Xiaodong (Tony) Wang is an Information Technology Academic at Melbourne Polytechnic.
He holds a PhD in Information Technology from Deakin University, where his research focused on fog-based recommender systems and privacy-preserving technologies. He also holds a Master of Information Technology and a Bachelor of Information Technology from Deakin University.
With extensive academic experience across Australian universities, including Melbourne Polytechnic, Victoria University, Deakin University, and Swinburne University of Technology, Dr Wang has taught a wide range of IT subjects in cyber security, networking, digital forensics, blockchain, operating systems, and emerging technologies. He is committed to delivering inclusive, engaging, and industry-relevant learning experiences for students from diverse backgrounds.
Dr Wang’s research expertise includes cyber security, privacy preservation, Internet of Things (IoT), fog and edge computing, artificial intelligence, and recommender systems. His research outcomes have been published in internationally recognised journals and conferences.
Beyond teaching and research, Dr Wang has extensive experience in industry engagement and international collaboration. He has developed partnerships with universities, industry organisations, and government-related institutions to support research collaboration, technology innovation, student development, and work-integrated learning opportunities.
