Diversity Equity and Inclusion Action Plan

We are pleased to present A Place for Everyone: Melbourne Polytechnic’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion Action Plan 2026 – 2028.

Developed through extensive staff and student consultation, as well as expert advice and input, the plan seeks to embed diversity, equity and inclusion into how we lead, learn and work. This way, we build a community where everyone belongs and thrives.

It delivers on the Strategic Plan vision of an ‘inclusive, sustainable and thriving community inspired by learning’ by ensuring inclusion is embedded in systems, culture and leadership.

A Place for Everyone focuses on the following pillars of action:

  • Strengthening core systems
  • Racial equity
  • Access & Inclusion
  • LGBTIQA+
  • Gender Equity.

Our progress will be measured through Melbourne Polytechnic’s sector-leading Inclusion Index. This combines data on student and staff experience to provide a deeper understanding of how welcome and valued the Melbourne Polytechnic community feels. This enables us to report on inclusion at Melbourne Polytechnic, a strategic outcome of our 2024 – 2028 Strategic Plan.
