As Head of Melbourne Polytechnic’s Illustration degree, Stephen provides Program and Academic Leadership. An extensive and parallel creative arts career supports his course management and education role.
Included in that experience is wide-ranging involvement in publishing, including illustration, book design and art production management, illustration and design for the music industry, and notable curatorial experience.
During his tenure as a lecturer and course leader, Stephen has also maintained on-going post-graduate work; initiatives and investigation that support the development of illustration and its application to an ever-diversifying arts industry.
He oversees a course that continues a long and unique tradition of illustration at Melbourne Polytechnic. Cultural and technological change has reshaped the global visual culture landscape this century, and while the Bachelor of Illustration embraces all avenues of contemporary visual creativity, it recognises that individual perception and understanding underpin ingenuity.
Stephen’s vision for the degree is a course exemplified by imaginative and authorial imagery; illustrative work that befits a competitive and transforming industry.
