Carlo has considerable board experience including as Chair of Merri Health and as Board Member of the multilingual translation service Languageloop. He has served actively on other Government and not-for-profit boards.
He was the former national chair of the Federation of Ethnic Communities Council Australia. Carlo has been a public advocate for access and equity, multiculturalism and broader human rights issues. He was a Member of Parliament for Brunswick for 16 years.
He is president of the Brunswick Zebras a large community soccer club. He is fluent in English, Italian and Spanish and has a good command of the French language.
Carlo is former university lecturer in youth work and public policy at Victoria University. He has worked for Aboriginal organisations including the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation in East Gippsland.
Carlo is a graduate of the University of Melbourne with a Masters in Urban Planning and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons).
Carlo Carli been a Melbourne Polytechnic Board member since September 2025.
