Partners unite to unlock jobs and opportunity in Melbourne’s north

Melbourne Polytechnic was pleased to host National Intermodal’s latest Supply Chain Futures North workshop at its Epping campus, bringing together key partners to support workforce and skills planning across Melbourne’s rapidly growing northern corridor.

The session highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing workforce challenges and ensuring the benefits of major infrastructure and industry investment are accessible to local communities.

Melbourne Polytechnic Chief Executive Frances Coppolillo said strong partnerships are essential to delivering meaningful, long-term outcomes.

“Unlocking the opportunities emerging through the Beveridge Intermodal Precinct will only be possible through genuine collaboration.”

Joanne Fox, National Intermodal’s Chief Corporate Affairs and People Office reinforced the need for ongoing partnership, saying, “Solving workforce challenges will not be solved by a single organisation alone. It will require continued shared leadership, strong partnerships and a commitment to thinking beyond organisational boundaries.”

Discussions focused on practical actions to strengthen workforce pathways, including increasing awareness of careers in supply chain and logistics, improving access to education and training, and better connecting young people, jobseekers and underrepresented groups with emerging employment opportunities.

As Melbourne’s northern corridor continues to experience significant population and industry growth, ensuring local communities can access jobs and training remains a key priority.

Melbourne Polytechnic looks forward to ongoing collaboration and working closely with partners to connect people with opportunity and support the development of a skilled, future-ready workforce.
