VCAL and YAMEC Graduation

Graduation Dinner Students

Completing a qualification is an amazing achievement and we are excited to celebrate with our VCAL and YAMEC graduates every year. Each year we hold a relaxed ceremony for our graduates to celebrate their achievements from the previous year.

Graduates celebrate with family, friends, teachers and guests from industry and the community.

The presentation of Certificates is the highlight of the event and is followed by light refreshments after the formal part of the evening concludes.

Terminology

  • Graduand A person who is eligible to attend their graduation ceremony and who is about to receive an academic degree.
  • Graduate A person who has successfully completed an academic course and who has been awarded their testamur.
  • Testamur Your Certificate of academic completion, a legal document, issued by Melbourne Polytechnic that states the name of your qualification and the area(s) of major study.
  • Cylinder This is what either a letter or testamur will be presented to you in, typically we give this to you when you cross the stage.

What to wear

This ceremony is a relaxed way to celebrate completing your qualification so we encourage you to wear neat casual clothes. Thongs, jeans, runner and low cut tops should not be worn.

Cost

This is a free event for all who attend. Graduating students will be given the opportunity to invite two guests to come along with them.

Food

Refreshments will be provided after the ceremony for graduating students and their guests. Most dietary requirements will be catered for.
