Begin to build your career with Melbourne Polytechnic’s Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural). If you’ve dreamed of running your own building design firm, working for an architect or leading building design teams, this qualification is the first step in your journey. Building design is a creative and technical career in an industry with national skill shortages and almost 10,000 job opportunities predicted in the next five years. Our course will equip you with the industry knowledge and practical skills to master the design, presentation and documentation process for residential and commercial building projects.
Our course is structured around a simulated office environment, with a project-based delivery that tests your knowledge in practical situations. This course has been developed with industry and is recognised by the Building Designers Association of Victoria and the Building Practitioners Board. Our industry-experienced teachers use the latest computer-aided technology to ensure that you graduate with skills ready for industry. Melbourne Polytechnic’s Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural) graduates are sought after, with many past students winning Building Design Awards Victoria prizes and thousands of dollars in grants.

Assessment is by a variety of methods, including project-based assessment, theory-based tests, completion of practical assignments/folio work, and targeted oral questions
