The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) recognises this invaluable qualification as one that helps you train and build key skills in Building and Construction. The key relevant skills and knowledge you learn will assist in you being assessed by the VBA when you apply for registration as a Domestic Builder.

You also have access to industry guest speakers, field projects and site visits and learn the crucial elements of the building management trade.

After completing the Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building), you may choose to enrol in the CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building), which is offered part-time (evening classes) over approximately one year.

Assessment

We use various forms of assessment, including project-based assessment, theory-based tests, and completion of practical assignments.

Assessment Methods

Various forms of assessment may be used including project-based assessment, theory-based tests, and completion of practical assignments.

Materials

You will need to purchase specific texts and materials (teaching staff will supply this information on enrolment or class induction) and you will also need to supply your own stationery, including notebooks and pens

Entrance Requirements

You will need to have completed Year 12 or its equivalent or be mature age

Pathways to further study

The course will increase your employment options if combined with the 22268VIC Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural) – ask us about how to do this. You may also choose to enrol in the CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building). Alternatively, you can pursue further studies in Architecture or Construction Management

Career Pathways

This course opens the door to an exciting range of employment opportunities. It will allow you to work for a Residential Builder/developer, or in the public sector as a estimator or assistant quantity surveyor, assistant site supervisor / construction manager.
