Melbourne Health has been a key player in providing accounting work placements to Melbourne Polytechnic's, Overseas Qualified Professionals, with impressive results, with some securing employment within their professional area of accounting, soon after their industry placement.
In Dec 2011 an agreement was officially signed between OQP, Melbourne Polytechnic and Melbourne Health agreeing to take on OQPs for work placement over a three year period.
"Alan Drews, Director of Business Services, Melbourne Health has been instrumental and the main catalyst and supporter of the program. He believes in giving our students a chance to demonstrate that they can work in an "Australian" workplace" said Lucy Gatto, Project Leader Melbourne Polytechnic Melbourne Health.
"Most of the students we have had the pleasure to work with have positively contributed to our work product, and all the students are able to communicate at a professional level. We have employed a few of the students at the end of their placement. I have found this to be a genuine “win-win” situation, so much so, that I have promoted this program to other parts of our business." said Alan Drews, Director of Business Services, Melbourne Health
