Sports turf management involves the preparation and management of grassed playing surfaces. Many employment sectors require sports turf managers, including golf courses, bowling greens, tennis courts, cricket wickets, playing fields, ovals and racecourses. Melbourne Polytechnic’s Certificate III in Sports Turf Management AHC31319 (Non-apprenticeship) teaches the specialist skills essential to thrive in this growing industry. Our Certificate III in Sports Turf Management AHC31319 teaches a specialist skill set, including the establishment and maintenance of recreational turf, preparation of sports playing surfaces, management of recreational and sports turf facilities, turf irrigation and pest and disease control. You will learn how to use the latest technologies and methodologies being used by the industry at Melbourne Polytechnic’s state-of-the-art facilities.

When you complete the Certificate III in Sports Turf Management AHC31319 (Non-apprenticeship) you will be prepared for a career in sports turf management. You might work as a golf course or turf wicket curator, bowling greenkeeper, sporting venue groundskeeper or consultant, irrigation assistant, or a varied role within local government looking after community facilities. This is a widely-recognised qualification in the industry, and you will have the opportunity to become a member of a range of professional bodies in the golf course and sports turf management industries.

The Student Services and Amenities Fee is charged at forty cents (40 cents) per student contact hour and is capped over a twelve (12) month period, effective from the enrolment date, to:
Amenities fees are used to improve non-academic services including libraries, counselling services, student support, and recreational activities.
A list of equipment and reference material that you will need to provide will be distributed at the start of the course.
You will need to provide your own personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety boots (steel capped), gloves, sun hat, Hi Vis vest, sunscreen, a USB flash drive, text book and writing materials.

It is a mandatory government requirement for all prospective students to complete an online literacy and numeracy assessment.
Once you are ready to enrol, you will be invited to attend our Skills and Job Centre, or come to campus to complete your enrolment in person.
