Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is a language developed by and for Australians who are Deaf or hard of hearing. It’s a visual form of communication that uses hand, arm and body movements to convey meaning.
Melbourne Polytechnic is the sole provider of these professionally recognised Auslan accreditation courses in Victoria, and our course pathways provide the necessary prerequisites to Auslan interpreter training.
Melbourne Polytechnic has a range of courses available to teach you effective communication with Deaf and hard-of-hearing children and adults. You’ll learn about the history of the Deaf community, culture, Auslan linguistics, and communication skills. We focus on delivering innovative, best-practice, flexible and student-centred courses.
Our courses include multi-modal delivery including face-to-face teaching and online and video conferencing.
