Build on your foundation level wine matching skills, with Melbourne Polytechnic internationally recognised Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits.
The course was developed by the UK-based Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET), and is recognised internationally. Melbourne Polytechnic is an Approved Program Provider.
The qualification focuses on the key grape varieties and regions of the world. Wine tasting is part of every class.
Level 2 course content:
- how wine is made and other factors influencing the style of wine
- key white grape varieties
- key black grape varieties
- wine producing regions of the world
- sparkling wines
- sweet and fortified wines
- spirits and liqueurs
- label terminology
- food and wine matching
- how to taste wine, using the Level 2 systematic approach to tasting
Assessment and materials
Course specifications, tasting card, text and study guide are provided.
To achieve this Level 2 qualification, students must pass a multiple-choice paper of 50 questions.

Sessions: 8 x 2.5 hours (7 online evenings, 1 full day and including exam)
