Who will be NMITs Student Waiter of the Year

It's on again! The title of NMIT Student Waiter of the Year will be decided this Wednesday night at the Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT) St Georges Restaurant.

See Photo Gallery Seven NMIT Diploma of Hospitality students will compete for the title, waiting on tables of invited hospitality industry guests.

The student waiters will serve a three-course meal with matched wines with style and a smile. Watching their every move will be a panel of three industry judges representing Matteo's Restaurant (North Fitzroy), Peter Rowland Catering and Elenore's Restaurant (from the Yarra Valley's Chateau Yering).

The winner will receive a trophy and prizes along with the glory of being NMIT's gun garçon for 2009.

"The NMIT Student Waiter of the Year is always very competitive," said NMIT's Food and Beverage Curriculum Area Leader, Tim Haronga. "It gives our Hospitality students the chance to put their customer service skills into practice in a real à la carte restaurant environment. It's a great way to prepare for employment and a lot of fun."
