Taste TAFE at NMIT

26 Mar 2013

Entertaining albeit educational experience is the highlight of a week of Taste TAFE at Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT) which offers prospective students real insights into vocational training at NMIT.

Starting on 6 August through till 10 August, Year 10, 11 and 12 secondary school students will participate in NMIT's Taster Week with a focus on fun and the future with the opportunity to engage in hands-on experience in their course of interest in a specific, three-hour taster session that will provide information and hands-on application at the Preston, Collingwood, Epping, Heidelberg, Greensborough and Fairfield campuses.

Whether students enjoy engineering, are committed to commercial cookery or attracted to accounting, they can explore their passions with direct practice.

Each day kicks off at 9.15am with a panel discussion where several NMIT student ambassadors will impart their experience on campus and answer school students' questions about their training programs as well as their activities as an NMIT student. This will be followed by the three-hour taster session and then a bbq lunch.

NMIT offers approximately 500 nationally accredited courses and approximately 380 Institute accredited courses which include specialist, three-year bachelor degrees in Applied Aquaculture, Australian Popular Music, Equine Studies and Viticulture & Winemaking. There is also an associate degree in Australian Popular Music.

Early school leavers and mature-age adults seeking retraining or a career change will be accommodated in the early evening from 6.30pm for an information session in the campuses' libraries.

All schools and the general public need to book via the NMIT website
