Student Chardonnay wins 'Best White' at NMIT Student Wine Awards

18 Nov 2009

The 2009 Student Chardonnay 'KID' produced by 2nd year Bachelor of Viticulture and winemaking students took out the Best White at the inaugural NMIT Student Wine Awards in a competitive field with 18 students who contributed wines for the awards.

The NMIT Student Wine Awards showcase the creative skills of students from the Bachelor of Viticulture and Winemaking, Bachelor of Illustration, and Diploma of Viticulture for Wine Production, with assistance from the Bachelor of Hospitality and Bachelor of Australian Popular Music students.

The wine judging and awards were held at St Georges Restaurant at Preston on October 29.

Special thanks should go to Martin Williams, Jane Faulkner and Ann Manning for a super tasting effort. And, of course, well done to the 18 students who contributed wines for the awards. All the wines tasted great.

You can follow the progress of the 2nd Year 2009 student Chardonnay on the student Chardonnay Blog through the various production stages from Picking the grapes at Steve Pride's vineyard at Panton Hill, Victoria, during April to winning the Best White Award at St Georges Restaurant at Preston on October 29, 2009.
