Congratulations to Rebecca Vaotuua, one of Melbourne Polytechnic’s School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT) students and a student at Mordialloc College, for winning the SBAT award category for Certificate III in Retail Baking – Bread in the 2015 Applied Learning Awards.
The Bayside Glen Eira Kingston (BGK) region Applied Learning Awards recognise outstanding students, teachers, employers, secondary schools and other education providers that have positively contributed to applied learning in the region.
The Applied Learning Awards were established in 2009 to provide a forum for celebrating and validating applied learning achievements within the local community. It was recognised that while academic achievement was celebrated via a number of forums and mechanisms, applied learning was generally not as widely celebrated.
In addition, despite the significant contribution made by businesses to provide genuine workplace experiences for students and establish partnerships with schools, these contributions were not often formally acknowledged and celebrated regionally.
Rebecca completed her Certificate III in Retail Baking – Bread at Melbourne Polytechnic’s Prahran campus.
Melbourne Polytechnic is also proud to have been nominated for the School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT) Employer award.
