Photoimaging hits Chapel

11 Nov 2013

On Tuesday 19 November NMIT’s (Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE) Diploma of Photoimaging students will be holding a graduate exhibition at Chapel off Chapel in Prahran.

The exhibition will host a range of different photography styles from the 28 graduating students. The work ranges through a number of different subjects including Architectural, Fashion and Fine-Art photography.

This diversity is heavily encouraged by Program Coordinator Alex Zattelman. “The training is vocational, but we don’t believe there is a mould for photographers. Setting yourself apart in the industry is an important aspect of becoming a professional photographer.”

The exhibition is organised by the graduating students, who held a print auction to help fund their grad show. Chapel off Chapel’s public gallery gives the students a chance to exhibit their work to the public and make their first sales.

Following NMIT’s Diploma of Illustration exhibition, Illustre, which was also held at Chapel off Chapel, the Photoimaging gradshow will introduce Stonington residents to more of NMIT’s creative industries work.

In 2014 NMIT will open a new campus on the site of Swinburne University’s former Prahran campus. The new NMIT Prahran campus will operate under the name of Melbourne Polytechnic.

Melbourne Polytechnic will deliver training in a wide selection of creative industries including design, photography, visual arts, professional writing and editing, digital media, music, theatre arts, live production theatre and events, costume design and makeup, sound production and media.
