NMIT’s Best Bands to Inspire Future Musicians at Local Schools

NMIT’s (Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE) Performing Arts Department’s brightest talents have formed two Super Bands to inspire high school students to follow their passion for music.

The NMIT Super Bands have been assembled via audition within the NMIT Performing Arts Department, and will feature senior music students. The band will play a wide variety of music including rock, current pop and some jazz classics in a number of Melbourne schools

Lliam Freeman, Head of NMIT’s Performing Arts Department said, “It is a really exciting opportunity for our students to perform for and hopefully inspire young people to follow their dreams and build a career in music.”

“We feel it is important to encourage the next generation to consider music as a career option and to ensure we retain a vibrant live music culture in Melbourne and around the country.”

The NMIT Super Bands are scheduled to perform at the following schools:

“NMIT Super Band members are excited to have the chance to perform for school students.  Some of our students will actually be performing back at their old high schools.  This is great for them and the school that they used to attend to see their development” said Lliam.

NMIT’s Music department is experiencing an exciting period of growth with the recent announcement of NMIT’s new campus at Prahran in 2014.  The Prahran campus will offer a wide range of arts related courses to students in the region including music performance programs.  NMIT’s extension into Prahran gives more students options to study at one of Australia’s leading providers of Vocational education and training.
