NMIT well represented at Northern Melbourne VET Awards

Congratulations to the NMIT VETis (VET in Schools) and ASBA (Australian Schools Based Apprenticeship) students who were recognised at the 3rd annual Northern Melbourne VET Awards held at the Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre on 18 November.

Secondary students from the Hume, Nillumbik, Whittlesea, Banyule, Darebin and Moreland municipalities were awarded in over 30 study areas by presenters from a variety of industries. The evening also featured performances from local schools and a guest speaker.

Nine students from a range of northern suburbs secondary schools (with TAFE training provided by NMIT) received awards. Tom Muir (Agriculture), Steven Moore (Community Services Childcare), Trent Weldon (Viticulture), Richard Vella (Furnishing), Jack Parker (Horticulture) and Andrew Buultjens (Conservation and Land Management) received awards for excellence while Madeline Busuttil (Equine industry), Thomas Berkefeld (Plumbing) and Emilie Lay (Business Administration) received encouragement awards.

In addition to certificates of recognition, all students received a prize and were warmly received by the audience of parents, educators and industry representatives.
