NMIT students showcase art in ‘Botanica’ at Bundoora Homestead

22 May 2013

Visual Arts students from the NMIT (Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE) will showcase their art at the Bundoora Homestead Art Centre from Thursday 23 May - Sunday 9 June.

NMIT's annual art showcase features mixed media and works on paper exploring the landscape and notions of space, place and environment.

The exhibition includes a selection of works which were created during a day trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens earlier this year. The students spent the day observing and interpreting the natural world around them through drawing, painting and photography. Their creative works were then further developed in a variety of media in the arts studio on campus.

The exhibition provides an opportunity for students to share their work to a local community audience.

NMIT Visual Arts Teacher, Kirsten Perry, says it will be the first time many of the students will have their work exhibited in a public gallery. For several international students studying with NMIT, it will be the first time they exhibit their work in Australia.

“It's very exciting for many of the students as it helps hone their skills in the craft of drawing and illustration.”

The official exhibition opening will be held on Saturday 25 May at 2.00pm.

All works are available for sale and are priced between $75 -$300.
