NMIT patisserie teacher to mix with the pastry masters

07 Feb 2011

Congratulations to NMIT Patisserie teacher, Gary Mahon for winning a prestigious scholarship from International Specialised Skills (ISS) Institute Fellowship.

Gary has taught Patisserie at NMIT for 20 years and has dedicated the past 4 years to mastering pastry techniques and helping students get jobs.

The International TAFE Fellowship presented by Skills Victoria will allow Gary to travel to Italy and France where he will get a first-hand understanding in the high-quality, modern practices used in bread making and Viennoiserie pastries. He'll also analyse the different qualities of the breads and pastries produced and how to improve the standards of pastries in Australia.

We look forward to hearing (and tasting) all that he's learned!
