25 Mar 2013

Kim Evans, a lecturer from the NMIT Bachelor of Illustration program was priviledged to have three of her works exhibited in the artistic showcase associated with the tour of American artists Alex and Allyson Grey.

The exhibition and live painting performance by Alex Grey was held at the Astor Theatre on January 29. The sold out event culminated at the end of the night with a "live" painting performance by Alex and Allyson, which provided the audience with a first-hand view of the artists at work on their canvases. The event was accompanied by DJ's, VJ's and an exhibition of works by Australian artists.

Kim Evans said "On a personal note as an artist, exhibiting at the event, and meeting Alex and Allyson was a huge honor, I have much respect for their shared vision for CoSM and as artists, their tireless work and generosity, and am grateful to have been a part of this event in Australia."

"Wearing my other hat as a lecturer, in relation to our students in the Bachelor of Illustration, the event was a great example of the expanding nature of what it means to be a visual artist in the 21st century, it highlighted the self-directed, cross disciplinary aspects of working as a visual artist, collaborative projects and events, and first and foremost, having a strong personal voice and vision as a platform, be it expressing personal, spiritual, social or global experience and narratives." she said.
