19 Apr 2011

On March 31, NMIT hosted and sponsored the 2011 launch of National Career Development Week (NCDW), a campaign that encourages and supports all Australians to develop the skills to manage their careers, learning, work and lives in order to take control of their own future.

Hosted by NCDW ambassador Steve Liebmann, the NMIT event was a great success, and included high profile guest speakers such as:

Eddie McGuire (television and radio presenter, President of Collingwood Football Club and businessman)
David Wirrpanda (former professional football player/ indigenous mentor/ founder David Wirrpanda Foundation)
Ms Sam Sheppard (Director, Buildmore Building Solutions Group).

Activities included a Community Forum to launch the 2011 National Career Development Week campaign, as well as local case studies and stories, a light lunch and a local service providers' expo.

The forum was designed to demonstrate to individuals and stakeholders how the integration of career development in service delivery across the community builds confidence, enhances education, training and employment choices and opportunities, providing stronger community economic growth.

Find out more about the launch in NCDW's media release: Community Gets Star Treatment to Launch Careers Week.

National Career Development Week will run from 16 to 22 May, 2011.
