Melbourne Polytechnic joins scheme to make study more affordable

24 Mar 2014

Melbourne Polytechnic is participating in a Commonwealth Government trial Scheme to make access to vocational education easier.

The Commonwealth Department of Education is trialling an extension of the VET FEE-HELP income contingent loan scheme to a limited range of Certificate IV Courses.

VET FEE-HELP is a Commonwealth Government loan to cover the cost of all or part of a students’ tuition fees and had previously been available to eligible diploma and advanced diploma students.

The Trial is designed to test the effects of extending the VET FEE-HELP loan scheme on student enrolments, completions and pathways to further education.

Eligible courses offered under the trial scheme at Melbourne Polytechnic include:

  • Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building)
  • Certificate IV in Disability

More good news ... no loan fee and no upfront fees

Eligible students accessing a VET FEE-HELP loan via the Certificate IV trial program will not incur a loan fee.

Melbourne Polytechnic has also announced further good news for potential students in order to encourage them to participate in the trial by removing any requirement to pay up-front fees which means eligible students will not be charged additional amenities or materials fees.

Concession fees still available

Concession fees will still apply to eligible Certificate IV level students taking up the VET FEE-HELP option.
