Media Alert - Indonesian Cooking Master Class

Get a taste of Indonesia in Preston. The exquisite tastes and aromas of Indonesian Cuisine will be on offer at NMIT's (Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE) Preston campus on Tuesday.

As part of Festival Indonesia, NMIT's Department of Hospitality and Tourism will be hosting cooking demonstrations by two of Indonesia's most highly respected Chefs - I Nyoman Tedun and Anak Anom Agung Samudra.

Both Chefs have extensive experience in traditional Indonesian cuisine and will prepare three traditional dishes including the art of fruit and vegetable carving in this free demonstration.

Chef I Nyoman Tedun

A highly regarded lecturer and teacher at STP Bali, one of Indonesia's top Hospitality and Tourism institutions. Formerly executive chef at Inna Grand Bali Beach Hotel in Sanur Bali, Chef Tedun' career spans 40 years. An expert in fruit and food carving, Chef Tedun is a highly regarded traditional culinary expert and is frequently called upon to showcase Indonesian cuisine and his carving skills at international exhibitions, most recently at the World Expo 2010 held in Shanghai.

Chef Anak Anom Agung Samudra

Anak Anom Agung Samudra is one of Bali's most well respected chefs. In 2003, Chef Sam joined Carnival Cruise Company as Head Chef, heading up culinary operations on a number of vessels before returning to dry land with stints at Bali Golf and Country Club, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Sol Melia Bali Hotel and Spa.

A believer in lifelong education, Chef Sam is an instructor at the Bali Tourism and Training Institute, and also holds an esteemed position as a national assessor for food production.
