Illustration students with illustrious results

24 Oct 2013

This coming Tuesday 29 October, Chapel off Chapel in Prahran will play host to NMIT’s (Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE) annual illustration exhibition, Illustre.

Students from NMIT’s Diploma of Illustration will be showcasing the work they have done during their course. This includes a diverse array of mediums such as digital illustration, painting, traditional media and even animation.

The exhibition will host the work of 43 emerging artists, giving a fantastic opportunity for visitors to come and view some of Melbourne’s up and coming illustration talent. With an eclectic mix of subjects and styles, Illustre will display a refreshing and extensive mix of work. You can preview some of the featured artists on the Illustre website at Illustre2013.com .

"The exhibition is an integral part of the students’ professional development", says program coordinator Con Emmanuelle. “Not only do the students learn how to work as a team to plan, prepare and set-up a group exhibition but they also acquire the fundamental skills required for self-promotion, folio selection and image reproduction.”

This year, the Illustre exhibition holds special significance for NMIT and the Stonington community. In 2014 NMIT will open a new campus on the site of Swinburne University’s former Prahran campus. The new NMIT Prahran campus will operate under the name of Melbourne Polytechnic.

Melbourne Polytechnic will deliver training in a wide selection of creative industries including design, photography, visual arts, professional writing and editing, digital media, music, theatre arts, live production theatre and events, costume design and makeup, sound production and media.
