NMIT (Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE) would like to congratulate former student and recording artist, Georgia Fields, on making the cover of the Age’s EG magazine.
The cover features Melbourne musicians Georgia Fields, Archie Roach and Adalita.
Georgia is a Bachelor of Music Industry graduate of NMIT. She released her debut self-titled album in 2010 with production assistance from NMIT’s Music Industry Head of Program Greg Arnold.
Described by the music press as “wonderfully experimental”, “a magician” and “unique and timeless”, Georgia has carved out a name for herself as a distinctly different Indie Pop musician. Her music combines experimental sounds with multi-piece orchestra arrangements.
While at NMIT, Georgia won the top prize in NMIT’s songwriters competition. Georgia enjoyed her time at NMIT, stating “I wanted to expand my theoretical and arranging knowledge, meet like-minded musicians and have the opportunity to grow artistically in a vibrant community.”
For Melbourne Music Week, Georgia will be playing a show in collaboration with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. The string sessions show, which also features Second Hand Heart and Paper House was on Sunday 17 November at the Toff.
