Dont let the horse bolt on your career

NMIT will be throwing open the stable doors on December 10 when it hosts its end-of-year Equine Course Information Session.

The information session is a must for anyone considering a career in the horse industry and will take participants from classroom to stable in a highly informative three-hour session. Session highlights include:

NMIT staff providing a comprehensive overview of the training options and career opportunities within the horse industry (racing and non-racing).

Information about the extensive range of study grants available to NMIT Equine studies students. In 2008 NMIT Equine students received a range of study grants including funding to travel and study overseas and work placement opportunities at leading commercial studs in Ireland, New Zealand, the USA and Australia.

A tour of NMIT's 300-hectare thoroughbred farm, Northern Lodge Stud, which includes brood mares, foals, stallions, a 1000-metre training track, starting stalls and all the facilities found in a commercial breeding and training facility.
“NMIT is a leading provider of vocational training in the equine industry and offers courses suited to stablehands, farriers, stud managers, trackriders, trainers and breeders,” says Equine Program Coordinator, Phil Jones. “Courses range from Certificate level right up to our Bachelor of Equine Studies and this year our first group of students will graduate from the Bachelor Degree course. Some of them are already planning their next step in the equine industry including studying specialist equine courses overseas.”
