Sessional Academic Staff Register

The higher education programs at NMIT have expanded considerably in the recent past. As our student numbers grow we often require additional teaching staff.

To teach in our undergraduate programs, you will need a Master's qualification or higher degree. Teaching experience at tertiary level or experience in teaching adults is highly desirable.

Certainly experience as a sessional academic is good way for your expertise to be known to NMIT when permanent positions become available.

From 2014 NMIT has a growing portfolio of undergraduate bachelor and associate degrees in variety of discipline areas:

Creative Arts

  • Music
  • Music Industry (Majors in Sound Production, Business and Songwriting)
  • Illustration
  • Writing and Publishing

Business

  • Information Technology (Majors in Software Development, Network Security and Database Development)
  • Business (Majors in Management and International Trade)
  • Accounting
  • Hospitality Management

Primary Industries

  • Equine Studies
  • Bachelor of Agriculture and Technology with majors in Viticulture and Winemaking, Aquaculture, Agronomy and Agribusiness.
    (This degree is taught by NMIT trading as Melbourne Polytechnic and will be conferred by La Trobe University.)

  • Early Years Studies
  • Tertiary Studies ( a foundation program at Diploma and Associate Degree level that prepares learners for tertiary study and higher education)

Our student numbers have grown over the past two years and we anticipate that there will be openings for sessional staff to contribute to our well regarded programs.

We are keen to attract well qualified and highly experienced professional personnel to contribute to our dynamic programs and inspire our students.

The formal application process to be a sessional academic will include presenting to the relevant Department for an interview and submitting certified copies of your qualifications.
For the purposes of this register in the first instance we just need your contact details and CV including relevant qualifications listed.

Registering as a sessional staff member means that you are available for sessional work, but does not mean that you are automatically employed.

NMIT's relevant academic staff will consult this register when filling any vacancies for sessional staff positions in their teaching teams each semester.

Should any teaching positions arise in your areas of interest and expertise, you will be contacted by the relevant NMIT academic prior to the commencement of the semester.

Your particulars will be kept on our database and reviewed regularly when our academic teams are looking for capable and exciting sessional lecturers.
