The MPPA is ideal for those from a non-academic background who require a pathway into the professional bodies, CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). It also provides higher level studies for those with an accounting degree.

Opportunities to undertake Master level studies in Professional and Practising Accounting with a broad grasp of corporate, national and global business environments are rare. We offer the MPPA as an effective route to generate professional accounting capabilities for managers.

You’ll develop the multidisciplinary skills necessary to make significant contributions to:

Exit Points

You’re able to exit the course after one year with a Graduate Diploma of Professional and Practising Accounting, then choose to complete the Master later.

Further Studies

As an MPPA graduate, you are eligible to apply for admission as an associate member of CPA Australia. You are also eligible to apply for admission into the professional programs of CPA Australia and CAANZ. As we have mentioned, the MPPA is accredited by both professional bodies.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

You can seek RPL where your work or qualifications of an advanced and related nature have been undertaken. Academic Credit is granted on a case-by-case basis, according to our Academic Credit policy and associated procedures. Applications for Academic Credit will be assessed by relevant Melbourne Polytechnic academics and where appropriate, industry experts.

Assessment Methods

Assessment consists of a mixture of case study reports, research reports, presentations, tests and examinations. The assessment recognises the advanced level of the studies in this course.

Materials

We will provide a list of required materials and books at the start of the course. We expect you to have access, where practical, to mobile computing equipment.

You will have access to journal databases and other library collections, excellent classrooms and computer laboratories. All lecture materials are available via our online Learning Management System, Moodle.

Entrance Requirements

The MPPA is a postgraduate degree. Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in any field. Those with an undergraduate degree in accounting will be eligible to apply for some credit transfer

You can apply for entry into the professional programs of CPA Australia and CAANZ. You will be across research principles and methods appropriate to professional and practising accounting and professional scholarship

Academic: AQF (Australian) Bachelor degree or overseas equivalent in a related field
English: Academic IELTS 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0, Pearson PTE Academic 58 overall with no individual communicative skill below 50, or recognised equivalency
