Fairfield campus - a heritage listed site set in stunning parklands by the Yarra River, this campus is home to many departments, student accommodation and exciting events.

Melbourne Polytechnic’s Fairfield campus has a rich history and is home to our Horticulture, Creative Arts and Performing Arts programs.

We offer a comprehensive Library, Extended Hours Computer Lab and student services. Drop by the Gallery Space (Building B) for student exhibitions, or spend some time at one of the many concerts at our Yarra Edge Music Centre. Our Horticulture Department has plant sales at the nursery – so pick out some great bargains to brighten up your home. There’s also a great cafeteria with good coffee and friendly staff.

Yarra Edge Nursery Cafe is a Melbourne Polytechnic favourite – a warm place to study in the winter months and a vibrant outdoor café in summer with plenty of iced coffee.

Fairfield campus was acquired by Melbourne Polytechnic in 2004. Formerly it was the Fairfield Infectious Diseases Hospital and had an international reputation for the treatment of infectious diseases. It was closed in 1996 and was the last specific infectious diseases hospital in Australia. The hospital treated conditions such as typhoid, diphtheria, cholera, smallpox, poliomyelitis, scarlet fever, and in its later years HIV/AIDS. The AIDS Memorial Garden, established in April 1988, is a place of tranquillity and reflection for the family, friends and loved ones of those affected.

Yarra House - formerly a residential quarters for nurses - was renovated and transformed to provide Melbourne Polytechnic's first on-campus student accommodation. It's a popular place to stay, so get in quick if you would like to live on campus.
