Student Recruitment star recognised by Tertiary Information Service

Congratulations to Rachel Metelmann, one of our hard-working Student Recruitment Officers, who received the Spirit of TIS Award from the Tertiary Information Service (TIS).

 

What is TIS?

The TIS is a collective of Universities, TAFE institutes and Independent Tertiary Colleges that helps students prepare for future careers through free events around Victoria.

Melbourne Polytechnic’s Student Recruitment team is a key frontline resource for the organisation, ensuring that Victoria’s 300+ secondary schools are well informed about the organisation’s offerings.

The team puts in thousands of hours travelling around Victoria to speak to secondary school students about Melbourne Polytechnic, often involving after-hours and weekend work at schools and expos. In addition, there are long hours on the road to ensure regional school students are fully informed about their tertiary studies options with Melbourne Polytechnic.

It’s a special kind of person who can to do this job and maintain their enthusiasm and passion, but Rachel is one of those people. Her nomination read “Rachel is always friendly and willing to give a helping hand. She is full of enthusiasm and is always in a positive mood. This is always nice after a long day at TIS. She is great to work with and a perfect candidate for the Spirit of TIS award.”

Her manager, Adam Todorovski, agrees. “Rachel is a wonderful personality, very friendly and engaging, and a hard worker. She’s perfect for this role, which requires her to engage with hundreds of students every week. She’s a real asset to our team and deserves this award.”

Rachel was thrilled to win the award. “It was a nice surprise. I really enjoy dealing with secondary school students and helping them navigate this big next step in their lives. I get a lot of satisfaction from putting them at their ease and helping inform them about the different options available to them, options they might not have thought about. It’s very rewarding.”
