COVID-19 health and safety

Last updated: 30th May 2023

Melbourne Polytechnic’s COVID-19 response

Melbourne Polytechnic is continuing to keep our campuses COVID-safe in line with government guidelines and our COVIDSafe plans.

Our health and safety measures have been developed as part of a robust COVID-19 response across the institute.

As a people-based organisation, ensuring a safe, vibrant and connected experience is our top priority.

We appreciate your support in helping to keep the Melbourne Polytechnic community safe.

COVID-19 Positive case or household and social contact

What to do if you test positive

If you have a positive test result for COVID-19, Melbourne Polytechnic strongly recommends that you do not come to campus.

Follow the Victorian Government advice: Checklist for COVID cases

If you have been on campus in the two days before receiving you’re a positive test result, it is strongly recommended that let your department know as soon as possible.

What to do if you are a household contact

If you are a household contact of a person who tested positive to COVID-19, you can continue coming onto campus as long as you are not displaying symptoms.

We strongly recommend that you:

  • Wear a face mask
  • Test regularly for at least 7 days following your last contact with the person who has COVID-19 as the virus can take time to develop.

See the Victorian Government website for more information: Checklist for COVID contacts

Rapid antigen tests (RATs)

Melbourne Polytechnic is providing free Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) to all staff and students until Melbourne Polytechnic’s supply is exhausted. They can be collected from your campus Student Hub or Student Centre/Library.

COVIDSafe plans

Melbourne Polytechnic’s COVIDSafe plans are an important measure for keeping our campuses safe.

They detail the health and safety processes in place at each campus.

The plans are reviewed regularly by the COVID response team and executive leadership committee to ensure they are in line with government guidelines.
