Turn your passion for horses into a career

Combine specialised equine science and business management skills essential to equine-focused businesses at Melbourne Polytechnic’s 300ha thoroughbred stud farm, Northern Lodge at Eden Park.

Melbourne Polytechnic’s Equine Studies courses will help you develop specialist skills and knowledge necessary for the successful operation of an equine business in the 21st century. We offer various pathways and specialities, including farriery, racing and a broader equine studies specialisation within our Bachelor of Agricultural and Technology.

Just 40 minutes north of Melbourne, Northern Lodge at Eden Park is a working thoroughbred stud, with facilities on site including lush pastures, stables, a covering barn, ménage, teasing facilities, a 1400-metre training track and jump out barriers, a sand roll and modern scanning equipment. Our equine studies students will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience in horse handling and husbandry, preparing them to enter the industry at a gallop.

If you love horses and dream of a career working with these majestic animals, Melbourne Polytechnic’s Equine Studies offers hands-on experience, technical knowledge and business skills to succeed.
