Issue Four: Still Cycling by Nicholas D Meeny

 Listen

The piece titled Still Cycling is a true story. It really happened.

Coetzee “…is known as reclusive and avoids publicity to such an extent that he did not collect either of his two Booker Prizes in person… He cycles vast distances to keep fit and…a colleague who has worked with him for more than a decade claims to have seen him laugh just once. An acquaintance has attended several dinner parties where Coetzee has uttered not a single word.”

I found him to be quite the opposite: engaging, happy to sign his work and even prepared to let a girl take a selfie of the two of them. Conclusion: his friends are obviously not worth talking to and the Booker Prize awards nights need an overhaul.

About the Writer:

Nicholas D Meeny writes short fiction, long fiction, punchy blog posts and in a segment he likes to call “paycheque of the week”, corporate communication. He edits with a meat cleaver and is known to write under several pseudonyms. A mercenary, through and through.
